Gas Cylinders Recycling

As part of the new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law, Newington residents will now be able to recycle gas cylinders under twenty pounds at the Newington Transfer Station.   

Acceptable cylinders include: any nonrefillable or refillable supplied to a consumer for residential use with flammable pressurized gas, helium or carbon dioxide, of sizes with a water capacity between .5 lbs and 50 lbs including, but not limited to, seamless cylinders and tubes, welded cylinders and insulated cylinders intended to contain helium, carbon dioxide or flammable materials such as propane, butane or other flammable compressed gases.

Unacceptable cylinders include: Industrial, commercial and institutional Oxygen, refrigerants, acetylene, hydrogen, ethylene, nitrous oxide, and foam adhesives.  Cylinders that are punctured through use,. Fire extinguishers and those that have a water capacity of under 0.5 lbs or over 50 lbs.
