West Meadow Cemetery

About West Meadow

West Meadow Cemetery was dedicated in 1977 and was constructed on the former farmland of the Eddy family. It is owned and operated by the Town of Newington. There are over 3,000 gravesites with over 1500 persons interred. All fees collected by West Meadow are placed in a fund to assist in future development and maintenance.  Gravesites can be purchased by current or former Town of Newington residents. Each grave space can be occupied by one or two people as desired by the owner. Well over 50% of all graves done last year were double depth.

Types of Grave Spaces

There are two kinds of grave spaces:

  • Flush Marker Grave - is designed to have a granite or bronze marker flush to the ground.
  • Monument Grave - is designed to have a which extends above the ground. The Cemetery Ordinance restricts the height and length of any monument or marker.

Specialized areas are also available for infants and cremated remains.

Cemetery Ordinance

All of the frequently asked question items are mentioned in the Cemetery Ordinance which you receive with your deed. Anything placed is at your own risk and the cemetery management is not responsible for vandalism or loss by any reason.

Services Available
