Organization and Staffing
Our staff strives to continually contribute to the quality of life enjoyed by citizens in the Newington community by providing healthy, safe and affordable opportunities for recreation and leisure for all ages.
Staffing
- 20 full-time staff
- Recreation and Administrative Division has 6 full-time employees
- Parks and Grounds Division has 14 full-time employees.
- The Parks and Recreation Department also employs approximately 150 part-time, contracted and seasonal employees.
Services
Recreation Division
The Recreation Division organizes all town-sponsored recreation activities offering over 500 programs, many special events, and processing over 11,000 registrations each year while working closely with various citizen committees, civic and youth sports organizations, and the schools.
Parks and Grounds Division
The Parks and Grounds Division is responsible for the maintenance of all Town parks, public grounds, open space, school athletic fields, cemeteries, and the Kellogg Eddy and Kelsey Historical Houses.
Registration
Registration is accepted by fax, mail or in-person at the Parks and Recreation office only. We do not accept registration over the phone. If choosing to register by fax, we recommend that you call our office at 860-665-8666 a few minutes after faxing to confirm that your fax came through and provide credit card information (if applicable).
