Newington residents now have two ways to recycle old textiles such as shirts, sweaters, jeans, linens and sneakers as opposed to disposing of them in the trash. Through partnerships with Baystate Textiles and Simple Recycling residents now have the option of drop off locations and curbside collection.
Residents who wish to drop off textiles to be recycled may use the collection boxes located at the Senior Center at 120 Cedar St. and the Town Landfill at 2045 Main St (during regular landfill operating hours).
Residents who opt for the curbside collection will need to follow the recycling calendar. Collection will be done biweekly on the same day as their recycling collection. Residents are reminded textiles do not go in the recycling container, they are to placed in the pink bags provided by Simple Recycling next to the containers. For residents in need of additional bags requests can be made by contacting Simple Recycling.
Follow the easy step listed below:
For those residents who choose to drop off the textiles collection boxes can be found at the Town Landfill and the Senior Center.
