Any metal item including appliances which contain Freon that is 80% or more metal may either be brought to the Town Landfill during operating hours free of charge or scheduled for pick up as follows.
Curbside Pick Up
Curbside metal pick up for residential homes and condominium complexes is done on Tuesdays of each week. Residents must contact Trash Away at (860)-229-1164 to schedule a collection. Deadline for scheduling a collection is Monday (1 p.m.) of each week. Requests for pick ups must be paid for at the time of scheduling.
Fees & Payments
The fee for collection is $12 for the first item and $5 for each additional item. Payments may be mailed or made in person at the Trash Away office located at 21 Christian La, New Britain, CT.
Checks should be made out to Trash Away, please include name, address, phone number and item’s that are to be picked up.
Please note that payment must be received in order to be placed on the list. No refunds will be issued if the contractor is not informed prior to 1:00 pm on Monday for cancellation or that the item has already been removed.
Some examples of acceptable items are refrigerators, stoves, washers and dryers, window mounted air conditioners, metal exercise equipment, lawnmowers (gas and oil removed), scrap metal.
