Purchasing

Bid Opportunities

Purchasing is responsible for the procurement of supplies, material, equipment and services used by the Town general government. These items range from basic supplies to building construction and vehicles. Items are purchased through the use of formal, sealed bids; requests for proposals for professional services; informal written quotations; or verbal quotations, depending on the dollar amount. Purchases over $30,000 require a formal bid. The Town also participates in cooperative purchases with other entities such as the Capitol Region Purchasing Council and the State of Connecticut.

It is the Town of Newington's goal to obtain the proper goods and services in a timely manner for the lowest cost from responsible vendors, in a manner that is fair and open to the public.
