Unpaid Motor Vehicle taxes will be reported delinquent to the Motor Vehicle Department the following month after the taxes were due, and registration will not be granted until all taxes are paid. • If you transferred the license plate from one vehicle to another, the tax is still due in full on the old car and you will receive a Supplemental Motor Vehicle tax bill in January for the new car.

If you no longer own the car and returned the plate to the Department of Motor Vehicles, or have moved out of state, you need to supply a copy of the returned plate receipt, or a copy of the out of state registration for a possible adjustment on your bill. The information may be faxed to the Assessor at 860-665-8533, or emailed to assessor@newingtonct.gov . Any questions on documentation call the Assessor’s Office at 860-665-8530.
