Scam Alert!
Recently, there have been numerous reports of scam phone calls claiming to be from the Social Security Administration (SSA). The calls often appear to come from actual SSA phone numbers but are fraudulent “voice phishing” schemes.
When you answer the phone, the caller claims that your Social Security Number has been suspended due to suspicious activity and may claim that your bank account has been seized. Don’t fall for it!
Remember, the SSA will never call to threaten you or your benefits. Your Social Security Number will not be suspended. Never give your Social Security Number or banking info to anyone who contacts you.
You can contact the Social Security Administration directly at 1-800-772-1213 or www.ssa.gov.
