The Department of Human Services is preparing for the annual Holiday Basket Program. We have mailed out letters to last years’ recipients, we know there are still residents whom we have not reached. We are accepting new applications for individuals, families, elderly, homebound and persons with disabilities who may be facing financial hardship, or are facing the Holidays alone or homebound.
Please contact us for possible assistance and further information at 860-665-8590. We are accepting applications through Thursday, September 28th. You do not need to schedule an appointment.
You may complete an application during Food Bank hours:
Tuesdays: 12 to 3pm
Thursdays: 9 to 12pm
2nd & 4th Mondays: 4 to 6:30 pm
Residents will need the following verifications:
- Social Security #s and dates of birth for all members of the household including birth certificates and social security cards
- Residence: lease or statement from homeowner, mortgage statement or mail addressed to applicant
- Income including 4 weeks paystubs, income, 4 weeks verification of Unemployment compensation, child support: divorce agreement or state child support enforcement printout of support received, written verification of any monthly income i.e. proof of pension, SSA, SSI, SSDI, veterans, DSS cash assistance, etc.
- Picture ID, if permanent resident- require Alien registration card
