Truly, all segments of this community including individual individual residents, schools, houses of worship, civic organizations, town sports teams, businesses and Town of Newington Employees, responded to the November delay in SNAP benefits combined with a Thanksgiving Food Distribution provided to close to 400 households. People stepped to the plate with food donations, purchasing items off our Amazon wish list, financial donations, grocery gift cards, volunteering. Town staff and volunteers responded by sharing space for storage of both perishable & non-perishable food bank items, assisting in transporting food, unloading donations, sorting food received and stocking shelves for additional Food Bank shopping sessions & our annual Thanksgiving Food Distribution. This was an amazing example of a community coming together to assist in times of need. Thank you all so much!
