If you own a motor vehicle, year 2003 or older, you may file the Antique Car Affidavit to lower your assessment to $500. There is no need to file a form if you already have registered your vehicle with class code 25 historical plates (which is automatically assessed at $500).
This form can be filed for vehicles that meet the following:
Passenger vehicles (01), combination vehicles (03), and motorcycles (12), 20 years or older that are defined as an antique, rare, or special interest motor vehicle, in accordance with the provisions of the Connecticut General Statutes Section 14-1, as amended by Public Act 08-150, Section 1 shall not be assessed more than $500. Definition: CGS §14-1(3) – “Antique, rare or special interest motor vehicle” means a motor vehicle 20 years old or older which is being preserved because of historic interest and which is not altered or modified from the original manufacturer’s specifications.
