The Highway/Sanitation department would like to remind the town’s residents leaves or grass are not allowed in the trash or recycling containers per DEEP regulations. Containers found to have grass or leaves in them will be tagged and not emptied. Grass and leaves may be composted or brought to the Town Landfill/Transfer Station (proof of residency required) during operating hours currently Saturdays only 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beginning April 1st hours will return to Saturdays and Sundays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The department asks that residents DO NOT rake leaves and sticks to the curb as they will not be picked up, leaf collection is only done in the fall. Vegetation such as sticks, brush and branches can be brought to the Town Landfill/Transfer Station (permit required) during normal operating hours. Landfill permits may be obtained at the Highway Garage (281 Milk Lane) or the Town Clerk’s office (Town Hall, 200 Garfield St).
