Real Estate, Personal Property, and Motor Vehicle tax bills for the 2023 Grand List are due July 1st with 30 days to pay and the last day to pay is August 1st. Penalty begins on August 2nd and 3% interest will be charged or a $2.00 minimum according to CT State Statute Sec. 12-146. (All back taxes require payment first Sec. 12-144b).
Payments may ONLY be made by check, money order, or cash in the Tax Office. Bring the entire bill (full page) to receive a receipt when making payment. If mailing a payment and you would like a receipt, include the entire bill along with a self-addressed stamped envelope.
Other options are to pay by mail, drop payment into the silver Tax Payment box in the parking lot across from the Town Hall west entrance, or pay online with a debit or credit card, or check at www.newingtonct.gov.
Taxpayers are responsible to make sure their taxes are paid when due. Failure to receive a tax bill does not invalidate the tax, interest or fees.
For taxpayers with back taxes needing a Motor Vehicle release, “Do Not Pay Online”. Office Hrs. are Mon. Wed. and Thurs. 8:30 am – 4:30 pm., Tues. 8:30 am – 6:00 pm, and Fri. 8:30 am – 12:00 pm (noon).
