This is a Reminder: No tax bill is sent for the January Real Estate or Personal Property installment. The second installment was included with your July tax bill.
If you have misplaced your bill, call the Tax Office for assistance (860) 665-8540. Payments may be made anytime from present to February 1st which is the last day to pay. Interest will be charged on February 2nd without exception.
DUE TO COVID-19, THE TOWN HALL IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. Be safe and pay by mail, online, or use payment drop box in the rear parking lot across from the Police Dept. which is located behind the old Town Hall. A silver drop box is at the end of the isle on the left side. Taxes may be viewed and/or paid online at https://www.newingtonct.gov/2707/Pay-Your-Taxes-Online. Convenience fees apply. No Debit or Credit Cards can be processed in the Tax Office or by telephone. The Supplemental Motor Vehicle bills will be mailed at the end of December for cars registered from October 2, 2019 through September 2020.
Back taxes must be paid first and if a motor vehicle release is needed, payment must be paid by bank check (not personal) or money order and be placed in the tax payment box. Payments are picked up and processed by the Tax staff daily and once the payment is processed, we will generate the release directly with the Motor Vehicle Dept.
Any questions regarding your car’s value or if you no longer have the vehicle, contact the Assessor’s Office at (860) 665-8530. Address changes should be made with the CT Motor Vehicle Dept. on the registration of each car. For other questions contact the Tax Office at (860) 665-8540.
