[ARCHIVED] Playground and Court Restrictions

Newington Parks and Recreation swoosh-style logo

Dear Newington,

It is our responsibility to keep the residents of our community as safe as possible. In order to do so, we must enforce an appropriate level of park and school ground restrictions to mitigate the spread of COVID -19. Effective immediately and until further notice the Town of Newington Parks and Recreation Department has restricted use of all park and school playgrounds and exercise equipment as well as all basketball, tennis, pickleball, volleyball, bocce, and horseshoes courts or any sport that is exchanging balls or equipment. We continue to encourage our residents to use our beautiful parks, trails and open spaces for walking, running, hiking, and biking for their physical, spiritual and mental health. This will aid in practicing social & physical distancing while in small groups. Please keep the recommended 6-foot distance from others.

The department has instituted an emergency Park Ranger program. The staff will be monitoring the grounds and sharing healthy information to keep everyone safe. Park participants whom do not abide by these temporary emergency rules will be asked to leave.

It is time for the Newington community to work together and help flatten the curve.

Together we can build a strong community!
