Newington Human Services is hosting a “Turkey and Chicken Drive” this November 2, 2024 between 10 am and 5 pm at the Human Services Department (located at Newington Town Hall, 200 Garfield St. – across from the library).
We are hoping to collect 200 frozen turkeys and chickens for this year’s annual Turkey Distribution Event on November 21, 2024. This distribution is reserved for Newington residents who financially qualify and have been pre-approved by our Department.
Our Department has close to 400 Newington households who receive foodbank/holiday support throughout the year. Many of these households experience additional financial stressors during the holidays. The offering of a Thanksgiving meal can help alleviate some of those stressors as well as send the message that the Newington community cares about its neighbors – especially those who may be homebound, infirm or alone during the holidays.
We hope you will join us in “helping a neighbor in need” by donating a FROZEN turkey or chicken on November 2, 2024 or at our department Monday through Thursday from 9am to 4 pm until 11-21-24. Thank you.
