Fire Department

The Newington Volunteer Fire Department (NVFD), established in 1917, serves the Town of Newington, providing fire protection and emergency response for over 30,000 residents across 13 square miles. With around 100 dedicated volunteer members, the department operates from 4 main stations and has a 5th station for its Cadet Division, which trains young individuals aged 14-17. NVFD's mission focuses on efficient response, mitigation, education, and community engagement, aiming to deliver state-of-the-art fire protection. The Cadet Division, started in 1979, offers both classroom and hands-on training, preparing cadets to participate in emergency incidents.
