Duties & Responsibilities

Information Technology provides computing technology strategies, as well as effective tools and services to anticipate and meet the business and information needs of the Town of Newington.

Information Technology provides strategic and policy direction for the implementation and management of technology for the Town of Newington. Core activities include development of the Town’s IT strategic plan, technology support, policy formulation, and the review and revision of technology standards.

Information Technology is tasked with developing a reliable and efficient technical infrastructure to support critical town operations. The Town of Newington is committed to providing residents, businesses and visitors with efficient and excellent service and information access.

Mission Statement

Information Technology will provide leadership, policy guidance and assistance in the use of technology while offering the highest quality technology-based services, in a cost-effective manner, and maintaining a secure, robust and efficient communications network for our departments and the community we serve.

Staff

The Town’s Chief Information Officer, Paul G. Boutot, oversees the department and reports directly to the Town Manager. The department provides technology leadership for the Town, developing common standards and business solutions to deliver Town services more efficiently and effectively.

The department’s personnel, which include one Network Administrator/Project Leader, Mr. John Bolduc, two Network/Application Specialists, Mr. Scott Hoagland and Mr. Steve Pollock, and one Geographic Information Systems Technician, Kevin Daley, are responsible for developing town-wide strategies and plans for investing in, and operating, the Town of Newington’s technological resources. The purpose of town-wide guidance is to reduce the cost of government, enhance services to our citizens, and make government services more accessible to the public.
