Residents may obtain landfill permits at the Town Highway Garage (281 Milk Lane) 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday or at the Town Hall in the Town Clerk's office 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday- Friday. License and registration of residents' vehicle are required to obtain a sticker.
Not so common household items
Bulk collection is done every Thursday and residents are asked to contact the Sanitation Department (860-667-5874) to schedule a pick up. Each residence is allowed two non-metal items per week and must contact the department prior to 3:30 on Tuesday to schedule a pick up. The town is allowed a maximum of 165 stops per week therefore scheduling is done on a first come first serve basis.
Scrap metal collection is done every Tuesday and residents are asked to contact the Sanitation Department (860)-667-5874 to schedule a pick up. The deadline for scheduling a scrap metal pick up is 3:00 on Monday. The fee for the first item is $10.00 and $5.00 for each additional item. Residents may also bring the scrap metal to the Town Landfill during operating hours.
Residents may obtain a second trash container by contacting Trash Away (860)-225-1206. The annual non-prorated fee is $90.00.
Fluorescent and CFL bulbs may be recycled as part of the Town's Ewaste program at the Town's Landfill during operating hours. Incandescent bulbs are not recyclable and my be disposed of in your green trash container.
Excess or old paint may be recycled as part of the CT DEEP's Paint recycling program
