Where can I get a copy of my birth certificate?

The Newington Town Clerk’s office can issue certified copies of birth certificates if:

  • The person was born in Newington.
  • The mother resided in Newington at the time of the birth.

Birth records are not open for public inspection in accordance with section 7-51 of the Connecticut General Statutes. You may request a copy of your own birth certificate, your child’s, your spouse and your parents. Grandparents can also request a copy for their grandchildren.

Certified copies are available in 2 sizes:

  • The full size is 8.5 inches by 11 inches and is a full copy of the document.
  • The wallet size shows the birth name and date only.

Both are acceptable legal documents with the raised seal.
