Winter Drop-in Weekly Storytimes
March 18 - May 9

Our regular Fall weekly storytimes for ages 9 months through 6 years.  To choose the right one for your child, pick up a detailed schedule in the Children’s Department or check our webpage at www.newingtonct.gov/library.

Voting for Nutmeg Children’s Book Award

Children in grades 2-12 are invited to cast their ballots for the 2019 Nutmeg Book Award, Elementary, Intermediate, Middle School and High School levels, from April 1 - 27. Your vote counts! Be sure to read all or some of the nominated books before you vote. Lists and books are available in the Children’s and Teen Departments.

Join us for this program geared for families with young children who have special needs.  Meet with birth to three-year-old resource professionals and socialize with your peers.  All are welcome.

The Connecticut Humane Society is coming to give us tips on how to keep pets happy and healthy.  The CHS does not bring live animals.  Suggested for grades K – 2.  Donations of pet supplies are requested.

Junior Cookbook Club

Sciencetellers Present: Wild West: Mystery of the Golden Piano
Friday, April 12, 10:15 a.m.

OH NO!  A bank-robbing outlaw is in town but the Sheriff has vanished!  Audience members must help to stop the heist, but not before stopping a runaway train, escaping an abandoned mine and discovering how a mysterious piano can help to put a rotten cowboy behind bars.  Register kids in grades K – 5 beginning March 29th.

Mary Poppins Delightful Double Feature Movie Matinee
Saturday, April 13, 11:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m.

Spend a Jolly Saturday Holiday with us!  We will be showing Disney’s original Mary Poppins at 11 a.m. and Mary Poppins Returns at 2 p.m.  Bring a brown bag lunch from 1 to 2 p.m. and a camera for a special treat!  Attend one movie or both.  Popcorn, beverages, treats, and surprises will be served.  Adults and children welcome, singing along is optional.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Please pick up your free tickets at the Adult Information Desk.

Ready for Kindergarten
Mondays, April 15, 22 and 29, and May 6, 6:00 p.m.

Children who will be starting kindergarten for the 2019 – 2020 school year, and a caregiver are invited to listen to stories and participate in lots of hands-on activities that will help children to develop the skills needed for a successful start in school.  In order to create a special one-on-one learning time with your soon to be kindergartener, please make other arrangements for siblings.  Please call to register beginning April 1.
