As you may have noticed, the Town and the Library have moved to a new and improved web site.  We hope that you like them!  You will now receive email news through this service, rather than through Constant Contact.

If you want to change or add email notifications to receive library information, click on the image  Get Connected, then select Notify Me.  You can sign up to receive monthly news and events emails for: all ages, adults, teens, and/or children's.  You can also sign up for events  calendar notifications for each of the categories. You may sign up for email notices regarding library board meeting agendas and minutes, library building/renovation agendas and minutes and many more town-related news items.  Once you sign up, you will receive an email from listserv@civicplus.com asking you click to  to confirm your subscription. Trick or Treat?


Use your library card to check out a gift-wrapped book during the month of October. Take the wrapped book home, unwrap it and read it.  Fill out the rating card in the book to tell us if your book was a trick (you hated it) or a treat (you loved it).  Since all books are recommended by library staff members, this is a tricky way to discover a great book!

The Changing Brain, a Caregiving Affair, Part 3


Dementia specialists Michelle Wyman and Patty O’Brian, of the Hartford HealthCare Center for Healthy Aging will discuss brain health and brain illness, provide information on professional intervention, and suggest practical caregiving and self-care strategies and tips.

Pajama Yoga

Due to the generosity of the Sliva Family, children’s author/illustrator Jeff Mack will be coming to Newington on October 27.  He is the author and illustrator of the Clueless McGee series and has authored and/or illustrated many hilarious picture books.  Mr. Mack will be speaking to all third and fourth graders at Newington High School in the morning and will be here to sign books.  Books will be available for sale at the Library.
