As you may have noticed, the Town and the Library have moved to a new and improved web site.  We hope that you like them!  You will now receive email news through this service, rather than through Constant Contact.

If you want to change or add email notifications to receive library information, click on the image  Get Connected, then select Notify Me.  You can sign up to receive monthly news and events emails for: all ages, adults, teens, and/or children's.  You can also sign up for events  calendar notifications for each of the categories. You may sign up for email notices regarding library board meeting agendas and minutes, library building/renovation agendas and minutes and many more town-related news items.  Once you sign up, you will receive an email from listserv@civicplus.com asking to confirm your subscription. Libraries Reintroduced, Sept. 10-16, 2017


During the week of September 10 – 16, 2017, the library will once again participate in this annual event that is an opportunity for libraries around the world to step out of their normal parameters and reintroduce themselves to their communities in new and interesting ways. Staff will be popping up throughout town to bring the library and its services to you. If you see us, stop by and find what the library can offer you!

Newington Reads!
One Book ~ One Town

Heat and Light


Join us for a community-wide reading event that will feature the novel Heat and Light by Jennifer Haigh. A best book of 2016 by the NYT, NPR and Washington Post, that explores the fallout of the natural gas boom in a small Pennsylvania town. Book discussions and related programming are scheduled for September and October. Multiple copies in different formats are available to checkout at the library. Paperback copies are available for purchase as well. The reading event will conclude with an appearance and book signing from author Jennifer Haigh on October 24 2017. The goal of Newington READS is to promote literacy through a common experience of reading and talking together about the same book.
