Declaration for Civil Preparedness Emergency (State of Emergency) issued by Town Manager Chapman.
On Monday, March 16, 2020 at 2:00pm, Town Manager Keith Chapman, issued a Declaration of Civil Preparedness Emergency (State of Emergency) for the Town of Newington in accordance with Connecticut General Statutes Sections 28-8a(a), 28-1(8), 28-22 and the Town’s Code of Ordinance 28-4, in response to the global pandemic of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Please Note: Town employees will be available by telephone and email.
The Town Hall will remain open to the public but will be operating at limited capacity, we advise you to call or email our departments first as most questions or requests can be handled electronically, walk-ins are not encouraged.
The Library is closed and activities have been cancelled until further notice. However, the Library staff will maintain operations of the curb-side check in/out.
The Senior & Disabled Center is closed and all programs have been suspended until further notice with exception of appointments for social services, and grab-n-go lunches for the Elderly Nutrition Program.
Dial-a-Ride will be operational for registered passengers at a limited capacity for non-emergency medical appointments, grocery, pharmacy and banking.
Human Services is closed and all programs have been suspended until further notice with exception of appointments for Social Workers/Case Workers. It will be required to contact the Human Services Department for the Grab-n-Go program from the food bank.
The Newington Town Council will hold a Public Hearing at 6 P.M. and a Special Meeting at 7 P.M. on Tuesday, March 17th, the Town Hall will be closed to the public however, participation will be encouraged by telephone or email.
