The Police Department Department provides services
including, but not limited to the following:

  • Administration

    • This unit is responsible for the long term planning for the department, budgetary preparation and implementation, purchasing, payroll, rule and regulation development and maintenance, internal affairs, grants, police recruitment and hiring, labor issues, responding to community and citizens’ needs or complaints, interdepartmental coordination, regional, state, and federal initiatives, the coordination of the equipment needs of the department, and other administrative duties as needed.

  • Investigations

    • This unit is responsible for handling major crimes, follow up investigation, complex investigations, vice and intelligence operations, narcotic investigations (regional task force), crime scene processing, evidence processing and inventory services, employee background investigations, Computer Forensic Lab and other investigations as needed.

  • Patrol

    • This unit is responsible for the 24 hour town-wide protection using uniformed officers in distinctively marked patrol vehicles, unmarked vehicles, motorcycles, and bikes. The unit is the primary emergency and non-emergency response unit of the department. This unit also oversees the High School SRO program.

  • Support Services

    • This unit assist all other operations in the police department including supervision of materials, supplies, maintenance of vehicles, radar/lidar certifications, crime analysis, crime prevention, radio systems, other communication systems, training, and traffic. The unit also supervises the Records Division, Community Services Unit, Communications Unit, Animal Control System and the Training Unit and handles other duties as needed.
