| Community Services Officer Program The Community Services Officers provide non-traditional police services to the community in an effort to provide a better quality of life. They work with neighborhood groups as coordinators to develop solutions to identified problems. The CSOs work with the Patrol Division Officers to address and follow up on neighborhood issues. - Halloween Safety Programs presented to Second grade students
- Bicycle safety classes presented to all 3rd grade students
- Bike Safety Rodeo held in conjunction with:

- Bicycle Safety classes presented to Brownie’s, and Cub Scouts
- Vandalism prevention 4th grade students
- DARE Program presented to approximately 450 fifth grade students in both middle schools
- Police Department Tours
- Annual Touch a Truck program in conjunction with Newington Parks & Recreation Department
- Summer library reading program police tours to approximately 45 children
- Neighborhood safety meetings held at the Library and the Police Department to address traffic safety, burglary prevention and vandalism at Mill Pond Park
- Presentation of Fraud Awareness seminars to Senior Citizens

- Speed & Traffic Enforcement on various streets based upon citizen complaints
- Neighborhood dispute mediation
- Police attendance at Condominium Association meetings at Glen Oaks to address safety concerns
- Police foot patrol at Mill Pond Park to thwart vandalism
- Mountain bike patrol in various locations in town
- Police assistance with the MDA in their annual Lock Up Fundraiser
- Child ID kit distribution
- Address Quality of life issues; handle blighted property complaints and abandoned motor vehicles
- Process all Bad Check complaints which lead to arrests being made or to restitution for local business owners.
- Attended and set up Police Information Booth at the Senior Expo, Extravaganza & Waterfall Festival.
- Police Department representation on the Youth/Adult Council and Juvenile Review Board (JRB).
- Installation and inspection of infant car seats
- Police participation in the Dodge Ball John Wallace Middle School Summer camp
- Presentation of Police K-9 Demos for several groups
