| Investigative Division Provides for original and follow-up investigation of all major crimes and complex crimes that require prolonged investigation or special training and expertise. A sample list of the types of investigations and services that the unit provides is: - Vice and criminal intelligence operations.
- Narcotic investigations with assigned personnel to the Mid State Narcotics Task Force.
- Crime scene processing.
- Forensic processing.
- Evidence processing and inventory services for the department.
- Employee background checks.
- Other investigations as needed.
Highlights of FY 2007-2008 Operation Detectives completed a year long Sexual Assault investigation with the arrests of 2 men. In September of 2006 a party occurred at a local residence. After the party ended and all the guests left, the 2 men, who had been at the party, returned and gained entry into the residence through an unlocked door. 3 females who had been sleeping were sexually assaulted. DNA evidence was used to link one of the men to the crime. Detectives investigated the armed robbery of a local credit union. The robbery was committed by 3 individuals who fled in a stolen vehicle. Detectives conducted 11 death investigations. 6 of the deaths were attributed to medical reasons. 4 were determined to be suicides. 1 was the result of a motor vehicle accident. Detectives processed 101 crime and accident scenes. Objectives - Support the Patrol Division by assisting in criminal investigations
