Do you have a green thumb? The Newington Volunteer Gardeners are looking for you!
The Newington Volunteer Gardeners are looking for volunteers to tend the municipal gardens in town. The Gardeners tend approximately 30 garden sites and at least 4 are in need of adoption and are waiting for your tender loving care. All materials are supplied by the town. The commitment is minimal considering the benefit, and if you love to garden, it’s just plain fun! These sites are in very visible areas such as under signage, parks, and schools and do a great deal to enhance the beauty and quality of life in our community. The beautiful gardens make us all proud of the community in which we live. If you would like to help out or need more information, please call Andrea Ladd at 860-214-2934 or Judy Whelan at 860-667-0817.

“Adopt-A-Spot” Volunteer Program"
An Adopt-A-Spot project can include many different types of activities. It may be as simple as picking up stray litter in your local park/area once a month, or it may be a longer-term project such as removing non-native plants in an area and replanting native species to improve the local habitat or watering and weeding landscaped areas regularly. If you or your group is interested in participating in the Adopt-A-Spot program, please call (860) 667-5830.
