Apply for a Library Card
Lucy Robbins Welles Library card

 

Any Newington resident may apply for a free library card by filling out a registration form and showing proof of residency. Forms may be obtained in person at the library or they may be printed out and completed prior to being brought into the library. For proof of residency, we accept a valid driver's license, a current lease, tax bill or utility bill with your name and street address. We also accept a printed check with your name and address or anything that comes in the mail. Any fines due on an expired registration record must be paid before a new card can be issued.

In Newington, your card may be used to borrow material or place a hold. You may also use your Newington library card in any public library in Connecticut under the state-funded Connecticard program.

You are responsible for all items checked out on your card. If you lose your card, please notify the library. Library staff my not give information about your borrowing record to anyone other than you. Library users' borrowing records are confidential and excluded from the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act.

 
Apply for a Teacher Card
 
 Any Newington teacher, as well as teachers from other towns who live in Newington is eligible for a teacher card. You may apply for a free library card by filling out a registration form. Forms may be obtained in person at the library or they may be printed out and completed prior to being brought into the library.

• You are responsible for all items checked out on your card. Library staff may not give information about your borrowing record to anyone other than you.

• Teacher cards are kept at the circulation desk for your convenience.

• Teacher cards are used only for classroom materials. Personal materials may be checked out with a personal hometown library card.

• Newington teacher cards may only be used in the Newington Library.

• Overdue fines will begin accruing after the due date.

• Six week loan periods are available. Librarians reserve the right to limit the amount of materials borrowed as well as the due dates.

• One week loan periods are available for DVDs and videos.

 

 Apply for a Children's Card 

 
 The Children's Staff of the Lucy Robbins Welles Library likes to encourage reading at any age so any child, at any age, living in the town of Newington my have a library card. We do ask that parents also sign library card registration form of any one under Grade 8. Young adults in Grade 8 and up are responsible for their own library materials.
