Friends 50th Anniversary Celebration 1961-2011 The Friends of the Lucy Robbins Welles Library kicked-off their 50th anniversary celebration on Spetember 25th at the Water Fall Festival. During the next 16 months they will be offering special anniverary celebration programs and selling anniversary gifts commemorating 50 years of service to the library. For more information click here. Help support the Friends by attending these programs and joining the Friends organization if you are not already a member. Money raised by the Friends during the year is used for library programs and services that would otherwise not be available.

Golden Gala & Silent Auction Saturday, June 18, 2011 Sphinx Shriner Center, Newington Doors open at 6:00 pm Admission is $45 per person Tickets are available at the Adult Information Desk or by mail with this order form It’s a Party! It’s an Auction! We begin with a cash bar and bidding on our silent auction items. Dinner will be served, followed by surprise guest speaker, journalist and novelist Steve Rushin and the announcement of the winners of our silent auction. Come and celebrate with your Friends!

Friends’ Annual Meeting Wednesday, June 1, 7:00 p.m. Author Jan Mann of Cruising Connecticut with a Picnic Basket will be the evening’s speaker. Her book combines a selection of 42 day trip places to visit, each accompanied by a made-to-order picnic; from hunting spring wildflowers to wine tasting, from hiking and biking on miles of trails to tubing and kayaking on our waterways, from city walking tour to country drives from old homesteads, to unique museums.
