Mission Statement

The Mission of the Cadet Division is to educate 16-17 year old youths of the Town of Newington about all aspects of fire department operations.  This is accomplished through training, hands-on-experience and supporting and observing firefighter's at emergency incidents.  Upon completion, cadets will have learned valuable life skills such as; leadership, trust, goal setting, teamwork, responsibility, communication, respect, and honesty which will bring them on step closer to becoming  a significant volunteer of the community. 

Cadet Membership

The Newington Volunteer Fire Department sponsors a special cadet training program for 16-17 year old high school students.  Successful participation in this program leads to admission to the department upon reaching the age of 18.
