eQuality Valuation Services, llc of Waterbury, Connecticut has completed the revaluation of residential and condominium properties. Commercial property will be completed by December 4th and those owners will receive notices of their new assessments by December 7, 2015. eQuality is currently holding informal hearing at the town hall that will run through December 11, 2015. Please call the number on your assessment notice to schedule a hearing if you need an explanation of your new assessment. Following the hearings, notices will be sent out to all property owners who attended. The new assessments from the revaluation will be used for tax bills that will go out during June 2016. At this time we do not know what the new mill rate will be.
The Assessor's office will be working on the personal property and motor vehicle sectors of the grand list in December and January. At this time the grand list is expected to be filed on January 31, 2016. We will send out final assessment notices to owners of real estate and personal property after the grand list is finalized and in time for owners to appeal to the Board of Assessment Appeals. Appeals from the 2015 grand list to the BAA must be filed on or before February 20, 2016 and those forms are available on the Assessor's web page or in the Assessor's office. The BAA will hold meetings during March by appointment only as required by state law.
